On Wednesday evening, a devastating incident occurred in Buyanja Town Council along the Rukungiri-Ntungamo road, leading to the unfortunate and instantaneous fatality of an individual.
The incident took place around 7 pm and involved a collision between a boda boda rider and a bus owned by High Way Coaches with registration number UBE 3790Q. The bus, which was en route from Kampala to Kanungu district, struck the victim, a man in his 20s.
The individual who passed away was known only as Musinguzi Peter, hailing from Nyakishenyi sub-county. He worked as a casual laborer at the home of Mr. Banobi in Rwakirungura Buyanja town council Rukungri district.
The deceased had reportedly borrowed a motor vehicle with registration number UFZ 247X for a joyride when the accident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the boda boda riders at the scene have placed blame on the deceased, asserting that he was an inexperienced learner and unfit to operate a motorcycle on the road.
Following the collision, the bus driver abandoned the vehicle at the crime scene, and all passengers hastily fled. As of the time of reporting, law enforcement officers from both Buyanja and Rukungiri Police stations were present to document the incident, and preparations were underway to retrieve the body for a postmortem examination.

The vehicles involved in the accident, the bus, and the borrowed motorcycle, were still at the scene.
Similarly, another incident occurred in Rwenkuriju along the Rukungiri-Ntungamo road yesterday around 7:40 pm. A taxi registration number UAU 106M veered off the road when the driver struggled to see the road clearly due to the headlights of a bus that had just arrived from Kampala to Rukungiri.
The bus was parked along the road, unloading passengers’ luggage. Fortunately, no lives were lost, but there were some minor injuries reported.
The injured individuals were promptly taken to nearby health facilities for treatment.
