On Saturday at approximately 9:00 PM, a tragic traffic accident occurred in Ntungamo District along the Kabale-Ntungamo highway.
The incident involved a Horizon Bus company vehicle with registration number UAM 297L, a green Nissan Bus.
The bus, enroute from Kisoro to Kampala, experienced a tire burst near Standard Secondary School in Ntungamo Market. This led to the driver losing control, resulting in the bus overturning.
Regrettably, the accident claimed the life of an unidentified female passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Several other passengers sustained serious injuries and were promptly transported to Itojo Hospital for medical attention.
The deceased’s body has been taken to the Itojo Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
As of now, the bus remains at the accident site, awaiting towing to Ntungamo Police station.
Authorities are actively working to identify all passengers who were on board during the incident. The investigation and efforts to notify the families of the victims are ongoing.
