Rev. Edison Ampeire, the North Kigezi Diocesan mission coordinator, emphasized the importance of youth steering clear of wrongdoing and sins.
He encouraged them to use their youthful energy for productive endeavors in service to their faith.
During the 2023 chapel conference held at Rukungiri Technical Institute – Kyamakanda in Buyanja Town Council, Rev. Edison emphasized the importance of establishing a profound bond with God, centered on the theme “The Secret to Bearing Much Fruit” derived from John 15:1-8, while addressing the students.
He acknowledged that everyone is a sinner but emphasized the need for repentance and cautioned against engaging in activities such as adultery, abortion, homosexuality, and alcoholism, which can lead them away from God’s will.
Rev. Edison also challenged the youth to focus on achieving lasting accomplishments and discouraged the consumption of energy drinks, highlighting that true hope, courage, and wisdom can only be found by embracing and seeking God as their guide.
The Chaplain of Rukungiri Technical Institute, Rev. Benson Amanya, warned the youth about the detrimental effects of alcoholism on their decision-making abilities and advised them to turn to God for inner peace and an enduring purpose in life.
He also urged the students of Rukungiri Technical Institute, as well as their peers from other schools attending the conference, to abstain from alcohol and drug abuse, emphasizing that many young people have lost hope due to the destructive influence of these substances.
Rev. Benson Amanya encouraged students and young people to seek God’s mercy, assuring them that a brighter future awaits them.
Katureebe Joshua, the Deputy Principal of Rukungiri Technical Institute Kyamakanda in charge of training, expressed that, being a Christian-founded institution promoting Christian values, it was essential to hold such a conference to bring students closer to God. He also called on students to set an example by working diligently, recognizing that Christian values and a close relationship with God are crucial for overcoming future challenges and achieving success in their pursuits.
To foster a sense of community, the institute organized an event that welcomed various educational institutions, including Kyamakanda SS, Kyamakanda Primary School, Buyanja Trinity College SS, Gables Vocational Training Center, Kanyinya Vocational Training Institute, Kashenyi SS, Makerere College of Business and Computer Studies, as well as the local business community from the nearby Omukikazi Trading Centre.
