The construction of a new bridge in Nsiika parish, Kagongi Sub County, Mbarara District, has sparked excitement among the residents. They are hopeful that the Ekicuundezi Bridge will address transportation challenges, particularly in moving their produce to Rubindi Ruhumba Town council.

The bridge is expected to establish a crucial connection between Kagongi Sub County and Rubindi Town, where inadequate roads and the absence of bridges have hampered transportation in the past. Residents express optimism that the new infrastructure will facilitate easier and more efficient transport of agricultural products to markets.

William Bananuka, the Mbarara District engineer, revealed that MBD Links Limited was awarded the construction contract at a cost of 78 million Ugandan shillings, with the project set to be completed within a two-month period.

Emmy Katera Turyabagyenyi, the District Resident Commissioner, issued a warning to the contractor, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the construction meets high-quality standards and avoiding any substandard work.
