Residents of Kizinda-Kigoma Town Council in Bushenyi district expressed their dissatisfaction today through a demonstration regarding the poor condition of the Kizinda – Rutookye road.

This road, linking Kizinda-Kigoma Town Council in Bushenyi district to Rutookye Town Council in Mitooma district, plays a crucial role in transporting commodities to market centers. Despite initial construction efforts by UNRA, the road remains incomplete, and heavy rains in recent months have further deteriorated its condition.

Arnold Prince, a resident, highlighted the severe state of the road, making transportation of people and goods to market centers challenging, especially during rainy days. Despite their efforts to seek answers from various district offices, residents have faced unresponsiveness, leading them to stage a demonstration to voice their displeasure.

Prince emphasized the urgency of addressing the road’s condition, recounting a fatal accident involving Kibwende Alex, who lost control of his truck loaded with sand on the muddy road, resulting in his death. He called on district authorities to intervene before the situation escalates.

Jafari Bassajjabalaba, the Bushenyi District Chairperson, acknowledged the concerns and assured residents that district officials are aware of the state of all roads in the district. He urged patience, reassuring the community that the roads, including the Kizinda – Rutookye road, would be renovated in the near future.
