Police in Kisoro district have increased security measures in anticipation of the kickoff of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
The 34th edition of AFCON, featuring 24 national teams from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is scheduled to commence Saturday.
Several delegations from participating national teams have already arrived in Ivory Coast, marking the beginning of this international gathering.
Boaz Arinaitwe, the Police Community Liaison Officer in Kisoro district, has stated that the police force has deployed both visible (overt) and hidden (covert) officers to prevent any criminal activities, especially during the night.
Arinaitwe emphasized that security forces are fully prepared to suppress any disturbances and urged football fans to travel in groups, particularly after night games.
