Naboth Mpirirwe the embattled secretary for finance in Ntungamo district has been relieved of his duties over what the district chairperson termed as incompetence.
Mpiririrwe was fired yesterday afternoon during a council sitting presided over by speaker Nicholas Twikirize.
His trouble started when he failed to avail reports from his sector a move that angered the councilors who questioned his ability to run the office of secretary for finance.
Ntungamo district chairperson Sam Muchunguzi took to the floor and revealed that he had decided to relieve Mpirirwe of his duties immediately due to incompetence.
Mpiririrwe who represents Ntungamo Sub County was replaced by Grace Twinomugisha the female councilor for Kitwe Town council.
Mpirirwe’s troubles started last month when he was accused by locals of extorting money from them promising to help them secure jobs for them in the district.
Some of the applicants who were unsuccessful despite him promising that they would be given jobs claimed that they had been asked to pay between 3 to 5 million shillings depending on the job applied for.
The district chairperson later summoned Mpirirwe to defend himself and also refund the money in question.
