Elders from the Greater Kabale region on Monday established an Elders’ Forum to push the government for the operationalization of Kabale City.
The forum was formed during a meeting held at the Kabale District Rukiiko Hall to plan for the Kabale City Mega Rally scheduled for November 30th at Kabale Municipal Stadium.
The forum is chaired by Major General Sabiiti Timothy Mutebile, with Caleb Turyamutunga serving as his deputy and Morris Mugenga Keitaba, the Kabale District National Resistance Movement (NRM) returning officer, as the secretary.
The elders have committed to extending the forum’s structure to the parish level to strengthen their advocacy efforts. The participants in the forum included elders from Kabale Municipality and surrounding areas such as Kyanamira Sub-County, Kitumba Sub-County in Kabale District, as well as Bubaare Town Council, Hamuhambo Town Council, and Nyamweru Sub-County in Rubanda District.
Major General Mutebile attributed the delay in Kabale City’s operationalization to what he described as the selfishness of some political leaders.
