Residents in Ntungamo district are expressing serious concerns about the deteriorating condition of a crucial road connecting the counties of Kajara and Rushenyi.

The road, starting from Rwashamaire town in Kajara county and extending to Rwahi town in Rushenyi county, is in a state of disrepair.

The most severely affected section, noted by 91.8 Boona Fm staff on their way to a friendly football match against Kashanda Sacco, is at Kashanda, where deep gullies have made it challenging for vehicles to reach Kamahuri playground.

The radio staff, whose vehicle got stuck in the potholes, had to resort to using motorcycles to reach the playground. They highlighted the urgent need for intervention from local leaders.

According to the 91.8 Boona Fm staff and residents, including boda boda riders, the road has been in a deplorable condition for the past eight years, leading to numerous accidents due to deep gullies. Some residents attribute the poor state of the roads to the local leaders.

Mr. Sam Mucunguzi Rwakigoba Salongo, the Chairman Lc5, acknowledged the road’s challenges and called for calm among residents. He assured them that he has received confirmation from the Uganda National Roads Authority that the road will undergo rehabilitation in the current financial year, with a budget of 1.9 billion Ugandan shillings.
