Kyomugisha Mary, a 32-year-old woman, is in a difficult situation after her husband, Asiimwe Arikangiro, who is 55 years old abandoned her after producing quadruplets.
This heartbreaking situation unfolded on January 8, 2022, after Kyomugisha gave birth to four children at Kisiizi Church of Uganda Hospital in Nyarushanje Sub County, Rukungiri District. Since then, Asiimwe Arikangiro disappeared, and Kyomugisha Mary has been unable to locate him.
Kyomugisha suspects that her husband may still be in the area, but he avoids her calls because when she tries to contact him, he either ignores her calls or hangs up once he realizes it’s her. She is left to fend for herself and her four daughters.
Currently, Kyomugisha Mary is renting a house at 40,000 shillings, which is a significant financial burden, especially as the expenses of raising quadruplets are steadily increasing.
Kyomugisha Mary is grateful for the support she has received from the local community, including residents and the administration of Kisiizi Hospital. However, she acknowledges that the help she has received so far is insufficient, and she urgently needs additional support to provide for her beloved children.
Karuhanga Silver, the area Chairperson of LC1, explains that Kyomugisha Mary initially sought justice but received no resolution. The residents initially supported her, but their assistance gradually waned.
