The police in Buhweju District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a 27-year-old man who was found hanging from a mango tree.

Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, has identified the deceased as Alex Turinawe, a 27-year-old peasant who lived in Kiiha village, Nyakaziba town council, Buhweju District.

It is alleged that on October 10, 2023, in Kiiha village, the deceased was discovered hanging from a mango tree.

Tumusiime explained that this tragic incident occurred while the deceased’s mother, Maria Gorret Komwaka, was returning from her visit to the deceased’s grandmother, where she had gone to pray for him.

Upon her return, Komwaka was unable to locate her son, prompting her to seek assistance from her neighbors, who joined in the search.

Ultimately, they found the deceased hanging from a mango tree, located 100 meters from his parents’ home, with a rope around his neck.

According to available information, the deceased had been grappling with mental health issues.
