Ms. Atuhaire Caroline, the Senior Commercial Officer of Rukungiri District, emphasized the crucial role of active member support in fostering the growth and efficacy of developing SACCOs during her address at the 18th Annual General Meeting of Kihanga SACCO, held at Kihanga Church of Uganda Parish in Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri District on April 24th, 2024.

Caroline urged members of Kihanga SACCO to prioritize high-quality agricultural production as a means to facilitate savings and to attract non-members to bolster the SACCO’s expansion efforts, enabling it to compete more effectively with established institutions.

Mr. Mugisha Benon Aunt, the Chairperson of LC3 Buhunga Sub County, advocated for a culture of saving among community members, emphasizing its importance for securing future financial stability.

Mr. Rutahwire Dominic, Chairperson of the Kihanga SACCO Board, encouraged members to actively recruit new participants to enhance the SACCO’s reach and sustainability, while also emphasizing the importance of maintaining a positive public image for stable operations.

Beingana Francis, Chairperson of LC1 Kacence Central and a member of Kihanga SACCO, called for a reassessment of loan policies, particularly regarding the reluctance of potential guarantors to save due to concerns about being held accountable in the event of loan defaults.
