The Archdeacon of Kyamakanda Church of Uganda in North Kigezi Diocese, Venerable Polycarp Katwesigye, has called on married couples to remain faithful to their marriage vows as a foundation for building stable families free from domestic violence.

Venerable Katwesigye made the call on Saturday, 27th December 2025, while presiding over the Silver Jubilee celebration marking 25 years of faithful marriage of Mr. Ambrose Karahukayo Kanyampaka and his wife Annah, residents of Matebe Cell, Kyamakanda Parish, Buyanja Town Council in Rukungiri District.

In his sermon, the Archdeacon highlighted key challenges affecting families today, including financial debts and political disagreements. He urged couples to uphold church teachings and the vows they made before God, emphasizing mutual respect, shared responsibility, and faithfulness in the management of life, property, and family affairs.

Mr. Ambrose Karahukayo Kanyampaka dedicated the milestone celebration to God, citing survival from a past life-threatening accident and overcoming family hardships as testimonies of faith. He reaffirmed his commitment to his wife and pledged continued cooperation in building a progressive and united family.

His wife, Annah Kukundakwe, thanked God for enabling them to reach 25 years of marriage. She encouraged women to remain loyal and supportive of their husbands despite challenges, noting that difficulties are inevitable in marriage and should be faced with patience and understanding.

The Rukungiri District Probation Officer, Ms. Jennifer Tumusimire, condemned the rising cases of domestic violence in families, attributing some of them to unrealistic luxury demands. She advised women to practice contentment, appreciate their partners’ abilities, and engage in productive work to support household livelihoods.

The Silver Jubilee celebration attracted relatives, friends, and church members who commended the couple for their resilience and commitment, describing their marriage as an example worth emulating in the community.
