The Dean of St. Peter’s Cathedral Church in Rugarama, Kabale District, Rev Canon Obed Turihohabwe on Monday evening urged Christians to let go of anger, emphasizing that it is essential for a longer and more fulfilling life on earth.
Rev Canon Obed Turihohabwe delivered this poignant message during the short requiem service for the late East African Revival Evangelist, Maliza Zaribugiire Tabasiima, at her ancestral home in Piida Cell, Upper Bugongi, Kabale Municipality.
In his sermon, Rev Canon Turihohabwe shared how the late Maliza Zaribugiire Tabasiima exemplified a life without holding grudges, which positively impacted those around her.
He encouraged the mourners to pray earnestly for the presence of caring individuals in their lives and to embrace forgiveness, as it is crucial for a prolonged existence.
Moreover, he reminded them not to lose hope in the face of earthly challenges, assuring them that the God they serve is ever-living and caring.
During the service, various mourners, including Rev Canon Lauben Byomuhangi, Chairman of the House of Clergy in the Diocese of Kigezi, Head of Mission Department in the Diocese, Rev Can Dr. Prof. Merdad Rugyendo, and Canon Henry Turyagyenda, shared heartfelt eulogies for the late evangelist.
They described her as a person who led a special life, immersed herself in reading the Bible, fellowshipped with others, and showed great love and care for fellow Christians.
Additionally, the mourners praised her for imparting words of wisdom and hope that inspired many to become evangelists, as well as for her influence in encouraging women to join the Mothers’ Union and spreading the message of salvation to numerous believers.
