The Rukungiri RDC Steven Nsubuga on Monday commissioned a project worth 140,299,960 at Katungu primary school Buyanja sub-county Rukungiri district.
According to Julius Bagira, the Rukungiri district Engineer the project comprises 3 classrooms and it has been done by the Belfast construction company.
The RDC also commissioned 2 classroom blocks and two 5-stance latrines that he had refused to commission on 12th August 2022 over shoddy work.
According to Bagira, this work had been done by Ticol Construction Company and after failure to correct defects, it was replaced by the Belfast Company which also constructed other three classroom blocks.
While commissioning the 2 projects, RDC Nsubuga hailed the government of the Republic of Uganda for the support and challenged authorities at Katungu primary to pay back to the government by ensuring good performance of learners.
Geoffrey Kyomukama the Rukungiri district chairperson said since there are enough buildings at school parents should utilize the opportunity by taking their children there to study.
Kellen Keneeza, the school headteacher said that as teachers they will work hard for good performance. He decried understaffing and asked the district authorities to increase the number of teachers at this school.
The ceremony was attended by the district secretary for education Hon. Keledonia Bakironda, the Buyanja sub-county chairperson Emmy Rubondo, and the Inspector of Schools for Buyanja sub-county Mr. Solomon Arinaitwe, among many others.
