The Parish Priest of Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi Church of Uganda, Rev. Sison Gomisiriza, has called on Christians to seek the Kingdom of God above denominational differences, saying all believers are working toward the same heavenly goal.
Rev. Gomisiriza made the call while preaching during an inter-religious prayer gathering hosted by Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi Church of Uganda parish, which brought together Christians from Kanombe Catholic Church. He condemned divisionism among believers and emphasized that both Catholics and Anglicans are followers of Christ who should work together for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
He urged Christians to live in God’s love by supporting those in need and offering hope to the hopeless, noting that unity among believers strengthens faith and reflects Christ’s teachings.
The Head of Laity at Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi Church of Uganda parish, Kamuhamye Justus, said the decision to foster friendship with Catholic Christians was aimed at strengthening God’s will among believers. He noted that Christians are all children of God and should live and work together as followers of Christ. He praised Rev. Gomisiriza for serving God’s people without discrimination based on religious affiliation.
Meanwhile, the Head of Christians at Kanombe Catholic Church, Tumwebaze Denis, expressed happiness over the growing friendship between the two churches. He said the collaboration provides an opportunity for believers to jointly work for the Kingdom of God and stand firm against the works of evil.
The inter-religious function featured joint prayers, the presentation of gifts from the Catholic congregation, and a fundraising drive to support the Church of Uganda parish in acquiring a vehicle.
