Christians have been called upon to maintain unity and peace as the country heads towards the 2026 general elections, with a reminder that politics is seasonal and should not divide communities.

The call was made by Rev. Eldard Twikyirize, parish priest of St. James C.O.U Karuhembe Parish, during a thanksgiving, housewarming, and baptism ceremony for Jeremiah and Patience, children of Sezi Kalenzi, a resident of Mukazi Cell, Karuhembe Parish, Kebisoni Subcounty, Rukungiri District.

Rev. Twikyirize urged the congregation to be sincere in their faith and service to God, warning against hypocrisy in their walk of salvation. He emphasized that God knows everyone’s deeds and encouraged believers to extend a helping hand to the needy, noting that God blesses those who give generously.

In his remarks, Sezi Kalenzi expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life following an accident he survived last year. He encouraged the congregation to cultivate a habit of thanksgiving, saying that giving thanks is an act of acknowledging God’s goodness. Kalenzi shared his personal journey, recalling how he started with nothing, selling water in Kampala, but has since been elevated to greater heights.

Wycliffe, the NRM chairperson flag bearer for Kebisoni Subcounty and a close friend of Kalenzi, described him as a hardworking and determined man who is always willing to help others. He urged residents to emulate Kalenzi’s generosity and called on the community not to let politics divide them.
