Christians have been asked to refrain from falling into the devil’s mission of promoting homosexuality.
Preaching during Assumption day celebrations at Rubanda Catholic parish commonly known as Kiizi in Ikumba sub-county, Rubanda district, area parish priest in Kabale diocese, Rev. Fr. Eurerious Maguru raised concern on how the devil’s agents are seriously promoting homosexuality in society.
Maguru however says that though the devil is fighting God’s plans in Society by instilling homosexuality, this should not distract Christians from sticking to Godly values by rejecting the vice.
He explained that homosexuality is against God’s plan who was wise enough to create Adam and later gave him Eve so that they produce children.
Speaking as the chief guest during celebrations, Hon.Moses Kamuntu Mwongyera, Rubanda West county member of parliament raised a red flag about the increased vice of alcoholism in Kigezi region.
Kamutu cited an example of Gloria Kyarikunda, 33, a resident of Mukayembe village in Kabuga Parish in Kihihi Sub-county who died on Sunday (August 13, 2023) after consuming waragi in Kabuga-Kayembe Trading Center.
Kamuntu says that there is no reason for members of the public to waste time on alcohol drinking instead of focusing on agriculture and other income-generating projects where they can raise money to educate their children.
Kamuntu pledged to take over the 200 million shillings project of upgrading Mary’s Praying Area at Rubanda parish.
Assumption Day commemorates the day when Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, died; her body was “assumed” into heaven to be reunited with her soul, instead of going through the natural process of physical decay upon death.
