The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Steven Nsubunga Bewayo has warned China Henan International Company (CHICO) truck drivers who have continued siphoning fuel on the ongoing Kanungu -Rukungiri tarmac road project.

He said that he has been receiving complaints from Chico Company officials that some yet-to-be-identified people in Rukungiri connive with truck drivers to siphon fuel from trucks along the way.

Nsubunga says theft of fuel by some of the company workers and especially the drivers could adversely affect the progress of the road construction works and cautions the public that whoever is caught will be taken to courts of law.

He asked the Chico Company to intensify supervision of its workers and always fuel trucks based on the workload to overcome fuel theft.
Hao Weidory, one of the CHICO officers said this is becoming a challenge as some fuel thieves connive with the company truck drivers to siphon fuel from their trucks adding that recently they intercepted some people with 7 jerricans of stolen fuel along the Kanungu-Rukungiri raod.

He asked the security officers and concerned residents in Rukungiri to help them fight this habit.
