The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has selected St Mary’s College Rushorooza in Kabale District to host this year’s Secondary School National Ball Games II Championship slated to begin from 9th to 17th July 2023.

This was revealed on Tuesday by the Chief Executive Officer of USSSA, Christopher Mugisha Banage while addressing Journalists at White Horse Inn Hotel in Kabale Municipality.

Banage said the school was selected to host this year’s championship after the USSSA, the Association of Secondary School Head Teachers of Uganda (ASSHU) Kigezi, and the Ministry of Education and Sports, conducted an inspection of accommodation and competition venues and facilities, and found that they meet the required standards for the event.

He warned schools and students against indiscipline saying that they will be disqualified and banned.

The headteacher of St Mary’s College Rushorooza, Christopher Monday said that they are ready to host the Championship, adding that students at the school will break off early for the second term to allow the event to move well as it was planned.

The Police Spokesperson for Kigezi Region, Elly Maate said police will deploy heavily in the whole municipality where the event will be held to ensure that the championship ends peacefully.

The Championship is an annual event that brings together schools from various parts of the country to compete in a range of sports disciplines that include Football, Netball, Athletics and Cross Country, Handball, Basketball, Wood Ball, Volleyball, Dance Sports, Rugby, Beach Soccer, Lacrosse, and Beach Volleyball.
