The police in Isingiro District are currently investigating the murder of Mr. Byenyinemwe Ben, the Chairman LCII of Nyamitsindo Parish in Mash Subcounty, Isingiro District.
The 64-year-old victim was found dead in his home with a deep cut on his neck, lying in a pool of blood.
Four individuals have been apprehended to assist with the investigation: Kiconco Sylivia, the 56-year-old wife of the deceased; Katushabe Aloysious, the 40-year-old son of the deceased; Yebuuze Ronald, the 33-year-old son of the deceased; and Tukwatanise Moses, a 30-year-old neighbor of the deceased’s son.
The incident was reported to the police on 22/10/2023 at around 12:00PM by Mr. Kato, the defense secretary of Nyamitsindo Parish. Upon arrival at the crime scene, the police found the victim’s body in his bed, and the police canine unit was brought in to aid in the investigation. The wife of the deceased stated that she was in the store when the assailants attacked her husband and then assaulted her as they fled the scene.
The police dog led the officers to Nyakagyera cell in Kabingo subcounty, approximately 10 kilometers from the crime scene. The trail led to the house of the victim’s son, Yebuuze Ronald, and then to the house of the neighbor, Tukwatanise Moses.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder might be related to domestic issues within the family, particularly due to disagreements arising from the deceased’s second marriage.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. The four suspects are currently in police custody, cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
