The Catholic community across the Mbarara Archdiocese is mourning the death of Rev. Fr. Agapitas Mubangizi, a long-serving priest who passed away on Monday.
Rev. Fr. Mubangizi, a native of Kitumba Sub-county in Ndorwa West County, Kabale District, breathed his last at Rugarama Hospital in Kabale Municipality on Monday, 14th April 2025, where he had been admitted. He was widely respected for his unwavering commitment to priestly service and spiritual guidance over the years.
According to Rev. Fr. Mukasa Balikudembe, the Chancellor of the Mbarara Archdiocese, Fr. Mubangizi will be laid to rest on Tuesday, 15th April 2025, at the Nyamitanga Cathedral grounds in Mbarara.
Fr. Mubangizi served in various parishes throughout his ministry, including Nyakishojwa Catholic Parish in Mitooma District, where he touched the lives of many through his pastoral care, humility, and devotion.
The cause of his death has not been officially disclosed.
As the community grieves his passing, many remember Rev. Fr. Mubangizi as a humble servant of God whose life was marked by faith, service, and compassion.
He leaves behind a legacy of spiritual dedication and community service that will be cherished by all who knew him.
