A suspect arrested in connection with the murder of 22-year-old security guard Musinguzi Silas, attached to Safe Tech Security Company, has appeared before His Worship Byamugisha Derrick, the Chief Magistrate of Kabale, and was remanded until May 5, 2025.
The incident occurred on April 5, 2025, at approximately 9:30 PM in Kigara B Cell, Kigara Parish, Kamwezi Sub-County, Rukiga District. Musinguzi, alongside his colleague Alias Owamahoro, was tending to cattle at a farm along Muhanga Kamwezi Road when they encountered the suspect, who was walking with a woman.
Armed with a gun, the suspect passed by them without any confrontation. However, Musinguzi, seeking to identify the woman the suspect was with, followed them.
In a sudden act of aggression, the suspect turned around and shot Musinguzi, killing him instantly.
Following the incident, the suspect was arrested, and investigations commenced. The case file was sanctioned by the Resident State Attorney (RSA), and the suspect was subsequently charged before the court.
According to ASP Maate Elly, PRO Kigezi, the investigations are ongoing, and the suspect remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
