Caleb Kipande has been elected as the new NRM Mainstream Chairperson for Kanungu District following the party’s internal elections held today at the district headquarters in Kanungu Town Council.

Kipande emerged victorious against other contenders, including Hon. Charles Bamuhata and Godfrey Karabenda, cementing his position as the new face of mainstream leadership within the district’s ruling party structure.

Other elected leaders include Karungi Elizabeth as Vice Chairperson, Byaruhanga Frank as General Secretary, and Akampurira Godfrey as the Secretary for Publicity.

The elections were closely monitored by local authorities and NRM officials. While the exercise was generally peaceful, there were moments of tension.  Kanungu RDC Ambrose Mwesigye Amanyire urged voters to maintain order, warning that continued chaos could lead to the suspension of the polls. Fortunately, calm was restored, and the voting process continued smoothly.

The elections are part of the ongoing NRM efforts to reorganize its grassroots structures ahead of future political engagements.

More developments are expected as the results from other leagues and positions continue to trickle in.
