There was joy and excitement at Bwongyera Girls’ Secondary School in Nyamunuka Town Council, Ntungamo District, as the school celebrated an impressive performance in the 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.

According to the school head teacher, Catherine Aturinde, the results show significant improvement compared to previous years. Out of the 54 candidates who sat for the examinations, 50 qualified to join university for degree programmes, while the remaining four attained results that qualify them to pursue diploma courses.

Aturinde noted that the school performed well in both Arts and Science subjects. She revealed that three candidates scored 18 points, while about 70 percent of the remaining students scored more than 10 points.

She attributed the success to the commitment of both teachers and students, as well as the strong cooperation among the school administration, parents, and learners. Aturinde added that the school leadership is determined to maintain and even improve this level of performance in the coming years.

Meanwhile, Mbeera Ephraim, a member of the school’s Board of Governors, expressed appreciation for the good results and congratulated the students for qualifying to join higher institutions of learning. He also commended the government for its continued support to the education sector and appreciated the cooperation between parents, the school administration, and the foundation body.

However, Ephraim raised concern over the low number of teachers on the government payroll compared to the growing number of students, noting that the school still needs more teachers to further improve academic performance.

One of the top performers, Akampurira Marion, who scored 18 points, thanked the school administration and teachers for their guidance and support throughout their studies. She encouraged the current students at the school to remain focused on their studies, noting that the school provides all the necessary support needed for learners to excel academically.
