The Minister of Security who doubles as the Rujumbura county legislator Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu on Saturday delivered a condolence contribution of five million Shillings from President Yoweri Museveni to each of 3 families that lost their loved ones in Bwambara floods in Rukungiri district in May this year
Three families that received five million shillings that lost their loved ones include the family of the late Edson Ngabirano, Bonny Kyabasasi, and Francis Kabare.
It should be remembered that on 08th May 2023, President Museveni directed the state house comptroller to give 5 million to each family in Kigezi region that lost their beloved one.
Minister Muhwezi while delivering the condolence money to the families at Rukungiri Inn, asked leaders in Rukungiri to sensitize the masses to protect the environment by planting trees.
He also asked the residents of Bwambara sub-county and Rukungiri district at large, to vacate the disaster-prone areas near water bodies and called upon families to utilize the money in rebuilding their lives again and starting up small income-generating projects.
The beneficiaries thanked the government led by President Museveni and their legislator who delivered the money for remembering and fulfilling the pledge although it was delayed.
They pledged to use the money to boost their income in their families by investing it in income-generating activities.
Previously the families had received maize flour and beans as relief items from the prime minister’s office
Present at the function were the Rukungiri resident district commissioner Stephen Nsubunga Bewayo and the Bwambara sub-county chairperson Chris Kagayano among others.
