Robert Atuhairwe, the RDC of Bushenyi District, urged the residents of Bushenyi to collaborate with their leaders consistently for sustainable development.

Addressing a community gathering at the Ruhumuro subcounty headquarters, Atuhairwe emphasized that residents, as the primary beneficiaries of services, should actively engage at all levels of development.

The community gathering, organized and supported by the Western Ankole Civil Society Forum, aimed to foster closer ties between community members and their leaders.

John Tumuhise, the chairperson of Ruhumuro subcounty, highlighted the benefits of the gathering, noting that residents had the opportunity to voice their challenges and share the benefits they’ve received. Tumuhise outlined various challenges faced by the sub-county, including poor infrastructure and limited employment opportunities, contributing to increased poverty levels in the community.

Carlo Namara, the head of programs at the Western Ankole Civil Society Forum, explained their objective of bridging the gap between leaders and local communities. Namara mentioned that their program spans five districts in the greater Ankole region—Bushenyi, Mitooma, Rubirizi, Sheema, and Ibanda—ensuring that residents receive information about ongoing projects, leading to improved service delivery.
