Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal accident that claimed two lives.
The accident occurred on September 1, 2024, at 6:50 AM in Nyampungi Trading Center, along the Ishaka-Kasese road.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident, which involved an unidentified motor vehicle and a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number UFS 092Q.
Tumusiime identified the deceased as Geoffrey Mugema, 58, a resident of Kabingo Parish, Kyamuhunga Sub-county, and Tophias Tumusiime, 35, also a resident of Kabingo in Kyamuhunga, Bushenyi District.
It is alleged that the accident occurred at Nyampungi Trading Center along the Ishaka-Kasese road when the victims, who were traveling from the Kasese side towards Ishaka, were struck by an unidentified vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
Tumusiime reported that the bodies were taken to Comboni Missionary Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
