Police in Bushenyi District are searching for unknown assailants responsible for the murder of a 31-year-old man under yet-to-be-identified circumstances.

The incident occurred on 24/07/2024 at an unspecified time during the night in Nyamirembe B Cell, Nkanga Parish, Nkanga Sub County, Bushenyi District.

Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Benson Kalema, a 31-year-old peasant and resident of Katondo LC1, Nkanga Parish, Nkanga Sub County.

It is alleged that on 24/07/2024, around 3:00 AM, the deceased was returning from Nyamirembe Trading Centre. Upon reaching his brother Anthony Kamusiime’s home, he found him outside after checking on his goats.

The two observed suspected thieves carrying stolen properties in sacks coming from Nyamirembe Trading Centre and decided to follow them to investigate. Later, Kamusiime Anthony chose to return to his house to sleep, leaving the deceased outside alone. After a while, Kamusiime heard an alarm and contacted the area chairperson, Deogracious Ayesha, but no one responded to the scene.

At around 8:00 AM, Rosette Kyosiimire, who was heading to her garden, discovered the deceased lying lifeless among eucalyptus trees on the property of one Manyire and informed the family members.

Tumusiime stated that the deceased was bleeding from the mouth, nose, and eyes, indicating internal bleeding. The body has been transported to Kampala International University Teaching Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
