Honorable Kamara John Nizeyimana, the Member of Parliament for Bufumbira North, has petitioned the Ministry of Public Service to investigate alleged irregularities in the office of human resources in Kisoro district.
Nizeyimana, who also chairs the Kisoro District legislators, made this announcement during a media briefing at the Kisoro district headquarters following a security meeting.
During the meeting, the district finance officer revealed that Kisoro must return funds allocated for gratuities and pensions to the national treasury. In response, Kamara pledged to write to the permanent secretary of public service to address the issue, emphasizing the need for financial support for teachers and pensioners facing difficult circumstances as retired civil servants.
Kamara also highlighted the issue of unpaid “hard to reach” allowances for teachers, urging the Kisoro district chief administrative officer and his team to resolve it. He noted that the Ministry of Finance had allocated funds for these allowances in the 2023/24 financial year.
Recently, teachers in Mupaka and Nkuringo town councils resumed classes after a two-week protest over the district’s failure to pay their 150,000 shilling allowances. They received support from Hon. Kamara John Nizeyimana, who asserted that without their demonstrations, the government would not have addressed their concerns.
