Police in Buhweju District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the brutal murder of a 48-year-old man.

The tragic incident occurred on 23/03/2024, at an undisclosed time, in Kagorogoro village, Kyamahungu Parish, Engaju Sub County within Buhweju District.

Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, has confirmed the incident. The victim has been identified as Clesencio Owomujuni, aged 48, a peasant residing at the aforementioned address.

Reportedly, on the night of 22/03/2024, at approximately 10:00 PM, the deceased was spotted in the trading center of Kagororo village. Later, at an unspecified time, he was ambushed by unidentified individuals while on his way home.

Tumusiime stated that he was assaulted and fatally strangled, with his body subsequently discarded in a nearby banana plantation.

Ambrose Tubenawe, aged 25, who reported the incident to the police, recounted that on the morning of 23/03/2024, passersby discovered the body and promptly alerted the victim’s relatives.

The body has been transported to Nsika Health Centre IV for postmortem examination, while investigations into the matter are ongoing.
