Ms. Lydia Tushemereirwe, the Rukungiri District Principal Inspector of Schools, has expressed concern over the rising rate of early retirement among teachers.
She made these remarks on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, while speaking to the examiners who are going to mark the 19th edition of the Special Exam organized by Broad Educational Consult Limited at Nyakibale Parents Nursery and Primary School in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
Broad Educational Consult Limited is a non-profit organization based in Rukungiri Municipality that produces examination tests distributed nationwide to enhance and maintain educational standards.
In her speech, Lydia Tushemereirwe commended Broad Educational Consult Limited for its role in improving education standards, creating employment opportunities, and inspiring teachers. She also condemned the trend of early retirement, highlighting the valuable qualities exhibited by dedicated teachers.
Maanige Wenceslas, the Executive Director of Broad Educational Consult Limited, expressed his gratitude and provided an overview of the organization’s achievements. He noted their success in promoting educational standards, addressing management strengths and weaknesses, and boosting confidence among rural schools.
Maanige also criticized the recent trend of head teachers being humiliated through investigations and arrests instigated by irresponsible parents, citing issues with the implementation of the government’s Universal Education policy.
Julius Nahabwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Broad Educational Consult Limited, assured that the Special Examination Tests are designed to build learners’ confidence as they prepare for the Primary Leaving Certificate. He expressed his gratitude for the initiative and its contribution to educational excellence.
Absolomu Nuwamanya, the Head of Mathematics at Broad Educational Consult Limited, encouraged the examiners to be meticulous and avoid errors to ensure high-quality results.
