Brenda Mutesi Akunda has officially been nominated as an independent candidate for the position of Woman Member of Parliament for Ntungamo District.

Her nomination took place today, the final day of the nationwide nomination exercise for parliamentary aspirants. Brenda, who previously contested in the 2015 NRM primaries for the Ruhaama County parliamentary seat, will now run independently, symbolized by the radio as her campaign sign.

She becomes the fourth woman to be nominated for the Ntungamo Woman MP seat following yesterday’s conclusion of earlier nominations.

Speaking after her nomination, Brenda pledged to prioritize community empowerment through income-generating initiatives, the promotion of education standards, and the advancement of women and youth groups to foster holistic development across the district.
