A tragic accident occurred this morning, Monday, January 27, 2025, around 7:50 AM, along the Butogota-Bwindi road.

A tourism vehicle with the registration number UAM 271U was traveling from Bwindi towards Butogota, with suspicions pointing towards a destination at Savanah Airfield.

Eyewitnesses suggest the accident was caused by brake failure, causing the vehicle to veer off the road at Munyaga Bridge in Bikuto Cell, Southern Ward, Butogota Town Council, Kanungu district.

The crash has left three foreign tourists and a Ugandan driver critically injured.

The victims have been rushed to Bwindi Hospital for immediate medical attention.

However, early reports, yet to be confirmed, indicate that one male tourist has tragically succumbed to his injuries.

By the time of filing this story, the police had not yet reached the scene.
