Mr. Onyete Bingana, the Rukungiri District Tourism Officer, has called on the public to support tourism, highlighting its significant development potential.
He delivered this message on Monday, during his remarks at the launch of the Bunyoro Tour Campaign held at Platinum Classic Suites in Buyanja, an event organized by Boona FM.
Onyete commended Boona FM for organizing the Bunyoro Tour, which aims to showcase international tourism sites in the Bunyoro region. He emphasized the transformative impact of tourism on infrastructure, culture, employment opportunities, and foreign exchange, all of which contribute to development.
Maanige Wenceslas, the Director of Boona FM, expressed gratitude to the government for stabilizing tourism in the country by ensuring a strong road network, security, and the sustainability of tourism sites. He encouraged the public to support the Bunyoro Tour, emphasizing that the event was organized in response to public demand due to its numerous benefits.
Kakyene Namanya, the station manager of Boona FM, reiterated that the Bunyoro Tour is aimed at transforming mindsets, offering the opportunity to explore oil deposits in the Albertine region, visit Kabarega National Stadium in Hoima City, and experience Murchison Falls National Park.
Namanya further clarified that Boona FM organizes events to promote tourism, enhance business knowledge, and expand friendships, urging the public to take advantage of this opportunity.
Robert Karemire, a taxi driver on the Rukungiri-Mbarara road, praised Boona FM for this significant initiative, noting the affordable fare compared to the benefits.
Gaspari Akampa, a resident of Nyamayenje in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality, commended Boona FM for initiatives that transform people’s mindsets and improve their income.
