Police in Mitooma District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 10-year-old boy by his 30-year-old uncle.
The incident occurred on September 2, 2024, around 12:30 PM in Kyeshabo Village, Kiyanga Parish, Kiyanga Sub-county, Mitooma District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Albert Beinobwengye, a resident of the mentioned address. The deceased has been identified as Alfred Turyatunga, a 10-year-old boy from Kisizi II Village, Kisizi Parish, Kiyanga Sub-county, Mitooma District.
According to reports, on Monday, September 2, 2024, the suspect turned himself in at Kiyanga Police Post, carrying a blood-stained panga, and confessed to murdering his nephew by beheading him.
Tumusiime stated that the suspect had picked up the deceased and his younger brother, Thomas Bataringaya, claiming he was taking them to their grandmother’s place. However, upon reaching an unoccupied house belonging to his brother, he allegedly strangled the deceased with a rope before beheading him.
The body of the deceased was taken to Mitooma Health Center IV for a postmortem examination, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
