A friendly match between Boona FM FC and Ruhaama Sub County Select FC ended in a goalless draw.
The match attracted thousands of spectators this afternoon at the Ruhaama Sub County playground in Ntungamo District, Ankole region.
The event kicked off with a game between Boona FM staff and Ruhaama Sub-County Legends, which ended 2-1 in favor of the Boona FM staff.
Kachene Namanya, the Boona FM station manager, stated that these friendly matches are organized to promote the Boona FM annual event titled “Ekigutuuro Rwimusya Bakwe.” This event is scheduled for July 13, 2024, at Rukungiri Main Stadium to celebrate Boona FM’s seventh anniversary on the airwaves. He encouraged the people of Ruhaama and their leaders to attend the event in large numbers.
Boona FC is set to play against Omukyiyenje FC in their next match on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in Nyarushanje Sub-County, Rukungiri District.
Counsel Richard Barungi, who is interested in vying for the Ruhaama County parliamentary seat in 2026, praised Boona FM for nurturing youth talent and visiting the Ruhaama area. Councilor Benard Ahabwe Mupenda highlighted that such football competitions alleviate stress and strengthen the relationship between residents of Ntungamo and Rukungiri.
Additionally, a Sewing Machine Project was launched on the same day to help skill and empower the youth.
Nicholas Mugyeyi, the District Speaker of Ntungamo, who is also interested in the Ntungamo District Chairperson seat in 2026, attended the football match.
