SIMPSON M

On behalf of the Boona Bagaigahare Nyekundire Group in the southwestern region, chaired by Hon. Peace Rugambwa, members have once again praised the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for fulfilling his promise to support communities with items like mattresses, coffee seedlings, and more.

Hon. Peace Rugambwa made these remarks on Friday while delivering another consignment of items for the Boona Bagaigahare Nyekundire Group in Ntungamo District. The consignment included 400 mattresses. Peace explained that these mattresses are intended for residents of Rukungiri District. However, due to security concerns, the group was unable to distribute the items there and had to temporarily store them in Ntungamo until it is safe to distribute them.

Peace expressed disappointment over an incident in Kebisoni, Rukungiri District, where police intervened and prevented members of the Boona Bagaigahare group from traveling to Ntungamo to collect the items. The police intercepted and redirected the vehicle carrying the members back to Rukungiri, but some members managed to evade the blockade and successfully reached Ntungamo, where they received the items with great joy.

She urged Boona Bagaigahare members in Rukungiri to remain calm and patient, promising that the items, including mattresses, bedsheets, blankets, and piglets, would be distributed soon. Peace also mentioned that additional supplies, such as coffee seedlings and hens, are on the way.

Some of the Boona Bagaigahare leaders who received the items, including Tibemanya Loy, the chairperson for Rukiga District, Sabiiti Station Rubajemeera from Ntungamo District, and Kenneth Rusanga from Bwambara, expressed their gratitude. They urged members to remain patient and wait for further announcements regarding distribution. They also expressed appreciation for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s continued support, facilitated through Hon. Peace Rugambwa, and pledged their full backing for him in the upcoming presidential elections.

Another group of leaders from Rukungiri, including Rosset Katusiime, vice chairperson of Boona Bagaigahare in Rukungiri District, and Norman Niwagaba, the district coordinator, expressed frustration with the Rukungiri security forces. They accused local authorities of misleading the police and obstructing programs meant to benefit the people. They called on the Minister of Security, Hon. Jim Muhwezi, and the Rukungiri police to reconsider their approach, emphasizing that Boona Bagaigahare programs are meant to assist the community, not incite conflict.

The leaders urged Rukungiri officials to support rather than undermine these initiatives, pointing out that it is the residents who suffer when opportunities are lost.

Mumpe Collins Kifene, the general secretary of Boona Bagaigahare for the southwestern region, expressed his satisfaction with the progress and encouraged members to remain patient. He assured them that plans are being made to coordinate with local leaders and ensure proper distribution of the items. He also condemned the actions of the Rukungiri police in disrupting the group’s programs, specifically referencing the incident in Kebisoni Town Council.
