Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of 35 years old Alison Biryomumisho alias Kamanda a resident of Kyato cell Nyakabungo parish Buyanja sub county Rukungiri district, who allegedly disappeared on 11th August 2023 at around 04:00 pm and later discovered drowned in river Birara of Munengo Kanungu district on the 23rd September 2023 at around 01:00 PM decomposing.
According to Elly Mate the Kigezi region police spokesperson, on 10th September 2023, the deceased and his wife Kobugaiga Doreen went for night prayers at the home of Tumwesigye Eriasaph in Kyabugashe cell Rushasha Parish Nyakagyeme sub-county in Rukungiri district.
On 11th September 2023 at around 04:00 pm, Alison ran away through the banana plantation in the presence of Kobugaiga Doreen and Akampa Abel, who tried to run after him but he ran faster than them and disappeared to an unknown place, they informed the prayer leader one Tumwesigye Eriasaph.
After six days without knowing his whereabouts, the case of disappearance was on 17th September 2023, reported at Buyanja police station VIDE SD REF:09/17/09/2023.
This prompted the police and relatives to combine efforts to trace him but all in vain.
On 23rd September 2023, at around 01:00 pm the body was recovered floating on the waters of river Birara in Enengo area Kanungu side by residents.
The body was retrieved in a decomposing state and identified by the mother Honest Kemitembe and was handed to family members for burial arrangements and inquiries are underway.
