The territorial police in Kisoro District are investigating the mysterious death of a 32-year-old man, Allan Maniragaba, a resident of Kinyababa Cell, Kyanika Town Council, who was allegedly killed by a boda boda rider under unclear circumstances.
According to preliminary reports, the tragic incident occurred during the night of June 15, 2025. Maniragaba, who worked at the Kyanika boda boda stage, had spent the day at work and later in the evening went for social drinks at Junction Bar along Cyanika Road. He was reportedly seen consuming coffee waragi with unidentified individuals.
When darkness fell and Maniragaba failed to return home, his wife tried calling him several times without success. The following morning, at about 7:00 am, pupils on their way to school discovered his lifeless body just a few meters from his home. They quickly informed local residents, prompting area chairperson George Biriko to alert Chahi Police, who in turn contacted Kisoro Central Police Station.
Police visited and processed the scene, collecting samples including vomitus for toxicological analysis. Maniragaba’s body was transported to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
In a twist, police arrested 32-year-old Emmanuel Twesigye, a boda boda rider from Kabara Village in Nyakabingo Parish, after he was found in possession of the deceased’s mobile phone. He is currently in custody to assist with investigations.
Kisoro Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident and said inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.
Police urge anyone with additional information to come forward to aid in the investigations.
