The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, has ordained three deacons to the priesthood and four seminarians to the diaconate.

The newly ordained priests are Rev. Fr. Bruno Niyonzima, Rev. Fr. Walter Harerimana, and Rev. Fr. Deusdedit Uwiringiyimana. The new deacons are Dn. Patrick Atuzarirwe, Dn. Mark Ahesibwe, Dn. Onesmus Ahabwe, and Dn. Stephen Nowandinda.

The ordination ceremony took place at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale District. During the ceremony, Bishop Rubaramira urged the newly ordained priests and deacons to remain steadfast in their vocation and resist the temptations of worldly standards. He emphasized the importance of preaching God’s word and standing firm against falsehood.

The Minister of Finance (General Duties), Henry Musasizi, also addressed the gathering. He encouraged the newly ordained priests and deacons to use their positions to promote social and economic transformation, with the goal of reducing poverty in the region. Minister Musasizi noted that while poverty levels are decreasing in other areas, they continue to rise in Kigezi.

He urged residents of the region to embrace government programs aimed at alleviating poverty, which affects 39% of households. Additionally, he encouraged them to use the limited land in Kigezi strategically to improve their livelihoods.
