The Bishop of Ankole Diocese, Rt. Rev. Prof. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa, has urged parents to closely monitor the television content their children consume, warning that some programs may negatively influence young minds.

Speaking during the 9th East African Revival Convention held in Rugarama, Kabale Municipality, Bishop Mwesigwa expressed concern over certain children’s TV channels such as Nickelodeon and Jim Jam, which he claimed now feature content promoting homosexuality and lesbianism.

Bishop Mwesigwa stated these channels are increasingly broadcasting content that can mislead and corrupt the morals of our children, so as parents and guardians, we must ensure we are not letting harmful material into our homes under the guise of entertainment.

Bishop Mwesigwa further emphasized that the youth are being driven by technology and the secular world they are embracing, urging them to shun it and turn to Jesus Christ.

This is the 9th East African Revival Convention, commemorating 90 years of revival in the Kigezi region. It is organized by all the greater Kigezi dioceses, namely: Muhabura Diocese (Kisoro District), Kinkiizi Diocese (Kanungu District), North Kigezi Diocese (Rukungiri District), and the host, Kigezi Diocese, which covers the districts of Kabale, Rukiga, and Rubanda. The theme of the convention is “Let Us Fix Our Eyes on Jesus,” derived from Hebrews 12:2.

In 2035, they will be celebrating a centenary of festivities.
