The Christmas celebration at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano in Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, marked a significant moment for the North Kigezi diocese, as Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe presided over his inaugural Christmas since being consecrated and enthroned as the 6th Bishop of North Kigezi diocese on March 12, 2023.

Addressing the congregation, Bishop Asiimwe expressed gratitude to the Christians of North Kigezi diocese for their unwavering support in the development of the diocese. He urged them to continue supporting him, emphasizing the importance of completing ongoing projects such as the construction of the cathedral and the revitalization of Makobore High School.

During his remarks, Bishop Asiimwe encouraged Christians to use the Christmas period for introspection, urging them to cleanse their hearts and foster forgiveness among one another. He highlighted the critical need for peace and stability in the country, district, and families. He drew attention to the rising death rates, attributing them to family instabilities and the actions of suspected rebels like those of ADF.

Bishop Asiimwe called upon all Ugandans to show respect to one another, especially those in positions of authority. He expressed concern about mistreatment by bosses, particularly towards household workers, and emphasized the importance of upholding the rights of every individual.

The Very Rev Erick Beingana Mugyezi, the Dean of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano, underscored the need for justice to be impartial, ensuring that the poor receive fair treatment in the courts. He conveyed the message that God would deliver final judgment without discrimination, emphasizing that the poor should not be neglected in their pursuit of justice. Rev Mugyezi pointed out instances of corruption scandals involving government officials and prominent leaders, emphasizing the necessity of ensuring justice for all, irrespective of social status.
