The Rt. Rev Onesimus Asiimwe, the bishop of North Kigezi diocese, on Sunday presided over the ordination of four Deacons in a vibrant church service held at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano in the western division of Rukungiri municipality.

During the ceremony, Bishop Asiimwe emphasized the importance for the newly ordained to understand the purpose of their calling, reminding them that they are called to serve and should adhere to church teachings to be true servants of the Lord.

The four ordinands, namely Rev Manigaruhanga Chris, Rev Orishaba Allen, Rev Owokwesiga David, and Rev Taremwa Emmanuel, all graduates of theological courses, took an oath in front of the bishop, expressing their commitment to follow and respect the church and its leaders.

Bishop Asiimwe urged the ordinands to serve the Christian communities in their assigned churches effectively, revealing that the diocesan council would soon convene to allocate their working centers. Additionally, he announced the imminent resumption of cathedral construction, with the bishop and his family pledging 7 million, while over 8 million was raised in cash and pledges during the event.

Rev. Can. John Mulindabigwi, the main preacher from Ankole Diocese, advised the newly ordained priests to serve diligently, emphasizing their role as chosen servants of God in Christ. He urged them to remain loyal to the Church, promoting unity, reconciliation, spiritual healing, and the love of God.

Rev Mulindabigwi cautioned against succumbing to worldly pressures and encouraged the newly ordained priests to stay committed to their calling, assuring them that God would help them succeed in their new ministry.

In response, Rev Manigaruhanga Chris, Rev Orishaba Allen, and the other newly ordained priests pledged their loyalty to the church, vowing to continue serving both the church and God until their retirement.

The event drew attendees such as retired Maj. Gen. Timothy Sabiiti Mutebile from Kigezi diocese, Christians from St Andrews Bukoto Kampala, and a delegation from Amidele diocese in Australia.
