The North Kigezi diocesan Bishop, Onesimus Asiimwe, has commenced his pastoral visit in Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, located in Nyakagyeme sub-county.

This visit is part of his ongoing tour of various Archdeaconries within the diocese.

This marks his first official visit to all 11 parish churches in Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry since his enthronement as the 6th bishop of the North Kigezi diocese in Rukungiri district. His tour began today at Masya Church of Uganda.

During his visit to Masya Church of Uganda, Bishop Asiimwe confirmed 89 Christians in their faith and delivered a sermon that inspired many to renew their faith and accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior. He emphasized to the congregation the importance of seeking salvation and turning back to God, prioritizing His kingdom above all else.

The bishop praised the diligent efforts of the Christians and their leaders in fostering development, particularly acknowledging Rev. Bonan Mugire for his dedicated service. Bishop Asiimwe urged Masya Church of Uganda to continue to support and utilize Rev. Mugire’s leadership.

Pillar Francis Baryayomba Katabaguza, the head of laity at Masya Church of Uganda, highlighted the community’s progress in development projects. These include the construction of staff houses at Masya Primary School to enhance academic performance, the building of a lay leader’s house, and the expansion of their church to accommodate the growing number of worshippers. He mentioned that while they have embraced a coffee-growing initiative, they face challenges with theft, as thieves target even the coffee garden managed by the church.

Bishop Asiimwe encouraged the community to persevere with their coffee-growing efforts despite these challenges, reassuring them that not all crops would be stolen. He advised the villages to strengthen their security measures to combat theft.

Rev. Bonan Mugire, the parish priest of Masya Church of Uganda, expressed his gratitude to the Christians for warmly welcoming the bishop on his first visit to the parish. He urged the congregation to collaborate with Bishop Asiimwe in the development of their parish.
