Rt. Rev. Gad Akanjuna, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, has advised students regarding the responsible use of internet resources to derive benefits from the expanding realm of ICT. The cautionary message was conveyed during a service preceding the inauguration of a UGX 255 million ICT/E-learning center at Kihanga Secondary School in Rukiga district.
Bishop Akanjuna stressed the significance of employing ICT for educational purposes while warning against the negative consequences of accessing inappropriate content, such as pornography, which could detrimentally affect their spiritual and future well-being.
He also shed light on the adverse aspects of the internet, including cyberbullying, online scams, and social media addiction, urging the youth to exercise prudence in their online engagements and perceive the internet as a tool for personal and societal advancement.
Representing Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister of Information, Communications Technology, and National Guidance, Roland Bish Ndyomugyenyi, a Member of Rukiga County, attended as the guest of honor. He encouraged students to utilize the new ICT/E-Learning center to develop solutions that benefit their communities.
