The Right Reverend Gaddie Akanjuna, Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, has encouraged Christians throughout the diocese to uphold their dignity and work towards the advancement of their families.

During a service at St. John’s Nyamweru Church of Uganda in Nyamweru Sub-county of Rubanda district, under Bubaare Archdeaconry, Bishop Akanjuna addressed the congregation, emphasizing the significance of maintaining family values and striving for the well-being of one’s household. He underscored that neglecting these principles has contributed to the decline of both the church and community development. According to Bishop Akanjuna, the family unit serves as the bedrock of society, and Christians bear a responsibility to protect its integrity and prioritize the collective progress and welfare of their families.

Drawing from the biblical narrative of Jacob and Esau found in the book of Genesis, Reverend Just Ayebare delivered a sermon during the confirmation ceremony. He highlighted Esau’s impulsive decision to trade his birthright for a simple bowl of stew, sacrificing his dignity and inheritance for momentary satisfaction. Reverend Ayebare emphasized the importance of cherishing and safeguarding the blessings and responsibilities that accompany one’s faith. He cautioned against making choices that could have far-reaching consequences, urging Christians to learn from Esau’s mistake and safeguard their dignity.

Reverend Ayebare cautioned against the temptation of worldly riches, which can deceive Christians and lead them to perceive themselves as invulnerable. He reminded Christians not to be ensnared by the pursuit of material wealth, asserting that the guidance and authority of Jesus Christ should shape their lives, rather than a misplaced sense of superiority.
