GIDEON TUMWIJUKYE
The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, today urged Christians to never grow weary of doing good deeds.
The Bishop’s message was drawn from this year’s diocesan theme, based on Paul’s letter to the Galatians 6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” The theme was delivered while opening the Diocesan Annual Brethren Conference held at the Rugarama Convention Site in the Northern Division of Kabale Municipality. The conference was officially opened by Bishop Akanjuna at 10:24 a.m.
In his sermon, the Bishop emphasized the importance of perseverance in doing good, reminding Christians that they will reap a reward in due time if they remain steadfast. He highlighted that, like Paul wrote, one can engage in good works year after year but might grow tired before completing the task.
The Bishop also encouraged Christians to let go of past burdens and cast them onto Jesus Christ, their savior.
During the conference, Rev. Dr. Jasper Tumuhimbise, the Executive Director of the Church Commissioners Holding Company Limited, called upon Christians to avoid discriminating against non-believers. He reminded them that God loves everyone, and no one knows what the future holds.
Rev. Dr. Tumuhimbise also urged Christians to help uplift one another, emphasizing that Christianity is rooted in humanity and mutual support. He encouraged believers to reach out and bring back those who have backslid in their faith.
