Three individuals have been arrested in Kisoro District for obstructing municipal law enforcement officers during the demolition of illegal structures along the Kabale-Kisoro-Bunagana Road.
The identities of the three individuals are currently unknown, as they were taken into custody and transported to the Gatimba police post cell by officers accompanying Kisoro municipal law enforcers. Municipal Town Clerk Kisubi Ayub led the enforcement team.
Ayub explained that the demolition was conducted to clear all unauthorized structures established by business owners along the street. This action was taken in anticipation of the upcoming visit of the managers of the Urban Authority’s Association of Uganda (UAAU) to Kisoro on Friday, December 8, 2023, for the Annual General Meeting.
However, business owners affected by the demolition expressed dissatisfaction, citing a lack of prior notification that would have allowed them to make necessary preparations for the removal of their properties.
