The individual, Arinaitwe Denis, who committed the murders of two women—a police officer, identified as force number 69786 pc Komuhangi Caroline, at Kabale police barracks by shooting, and a university student, Naturinda Sarah, whom he strangled—on the 19th of March 2023, has opted for plea bargaining. As a result, he has been sentenced to 35 years for each account, totaling 70 years of incarceration.
He is currently serving his sentence at Ndorwa prison and appeared before His Lordship Justice Samuel Emokor, the Kabale high court circuit judge, today, the 18th of March 2024.
This verdict serves as a warning to others who may contemplate taking the law into their own hands, thinking they can evade consequences.
According to the Kigezi police spokesperson, individuals should seek to resolve their disputes amicably rather than resorting to violence.
